Two Exciting Updates This Year!
We have two new things to make this year's process smoother for everyone:
- We're now using Submittable to keep all emails and poetry organized – this is hosted for free by Bainbridge Island Press, so everything stays clean and efficient instead of managing hundreds of individual emails.
- The $15 submission fee will be collected directly on the Submittable page, making payment simple and secure.
Please note: We're using Submittable to make the submission process clean, easy, efficient, and less messy than having hundreds of emails and processing hundreds of poems from email submissions. Submissions are processed through Submittable via Bainbridge Island Press's account, which is generously hosting this service for Ars Poetica WA at no cost. This is an Ars Poetica WA event. Bainbridge Island Press is providing technical support only. All editorial decisions and event management remain entirely with the Ars Poetica WA committee. This should make things so much easier for all of us!
Submission requirements:
- Submit up to 3 poems through our Submittable page.
- All poems will be logged into the screening pool upon receipt of the $15 fee.
The Fine Print: All selected poems will be offered to artists from the sponsoring galleries and other local venues to be visually responded to in any medium. The resulting artworks, along with the poems they interpret, will then be displayed in local galleries and venues during the months of April, May, and June 2026.
POETRY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Eligibility: Open to residents of Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson counties, Gig Harbor, Clallam, and Key Peninsula.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Submit up to 3 poems: any subject/any style. DO NOT put your name on poem(s).
Poems may not exceed 26 lines in length, including the title and spaces between stanzas.
Fee: $15.00 for up to 3 poems. Fees will not be refunded.
Previously published poems O.K. with citation (not included in line count).
Format: 12 pt, Times Roman. Flush left preferred, but not required.
Submit in MS Word or a word processing software that can be opened in MS Word.
Poems in PDF format will not be accepted but will be returned to sender for proper formatting up to the deadline date and time.

Galleries/venues will each organize a month-long display of poems and created artworks, plus a poetry reading in April, May, or June (dates TBD), when poets will read their poems and artists will discuss their artworks.
