First of all, congratulations on being inspired by poetry, and thank you for sharing your art with us!
The steps for artists:
Poetry Manuscript Page - First, read the poems available. The poems are available by the .pdf your gallery/venue sent to you, or you can find the poetry on the Poetry Manuscript Page above. We suggest having a nice cup of tea or wine to accompany this step, along with nice music or birdsong.
This link will take you to a submission form that has 4 steps:
1. Type in your email for confirmation. 2. Click the box to choose which gallery/venue you are involved with. 3. Type in your name 4. Type in the name of the poem and poet that you have chosen
Then, click Submit!
You are done! Well, now you have to create your piece of artwork.
The Fine Print:
The participating galleries will inform you of when the Ars Poetica Committee has posted the manuscript of poems onto the Poetry Manuscript page. There, you will find the entire manuscript of poems available for Ars Poetica.
The reason why we did this: The Ars Poetica Committee generally sees a couple hundred poems each year. Each year, we have used different methods of shuffling the poetry so that each poem has a fair and equal chance of being read by the artists. Still, we have found that a few poems tend to be chosen in an unequal amount, which feels unfair.
This year, in order to try another method of creating a fair platform for all poems to be read for the possibility of being chosen, we created the Poetry Manuscript page.
The Poetry Manuscript page will have all of the poems available at first. Then, when an artist submits the Artist Confirmation Form, the poem will be removed from the manuscript. (we used to do this years ago, and we're going to try it again!)
The results from this form will all be sent to the Ars Poetica Committee and recorded In a safe spreadsheet.
The Ars Poetica Committee will then compile this data to inform the poets to let them know when and where to find their work during the April Ars Poetica events!
We are so excited to share this event with you!
